Personality
Shinichi is confident, intelligent, and a little brash. He has a strong sense of justice, and at times, he can dive headlong into danger without thinking. As a famous High School Detective, he has many fans, which greatly boosts his ego. He has a vast amount of knowledge about detective and police work that he gained from following his father, Kudo Yusaku, on police investigations, and later on by assisting the police force himself. He is an avid soccer fan, and a stellar player himself, yet he passed on a chance at stardom on the soccer field, because being a famous detective was his first and most important priority. While he may act arrogant at times, Shinichi is a true and loyal friend, and is always willing to help even total strangers, if only because it is the right thing to do. Due to his pride as a detective, he will never allow a crime to go unsolved, or any criminal to go free.
Appearance
Throughout the series, Shinichi's normal appearance has undergone a few changes. Earlier on, he would almost always appear in his high school uniform, with his trademark bow tie. Later on in the series, he usually appears in casual clothes which change with every appearance. He has also had occasion to use a few disguises, usually because appearing as "Kudo Shinichi" would draw unwanted attention, either from those who know him, or from the Black Organization.
Special Skills/Abilities
Shinchi is a detective of incomparable intelligence. He can deduce facts about a case from even the smallest details, and see through a suspect's motives from only general personal information. He is also a skilled soccer player, capable of playing on Japan's national team if he cared to. In addition to this, he plays the violin as a means of further emulating his idol, Sherlock Holmes. He has a broad array of knowledge about many often obscure subjects, which he gained through years of detective work. He also has perfect pitch, the ability to accurately identify, and distinguish between, different sounds with complete accuracy. He also has an incredible memory, which allows him to recall details about a case whenever he needs to. He can operate most different types of vehicles, from cars, to boats, to planes, and even helicopters. Though he rarely has use for this ability, he is also a highly skilled shot, able to fire guns with great accuracy. And although he has yet to display this ability as Shinichi, he seems to be an incredibly skilled skateboarder, since as Conan he can operate the rocket powered skateboard with ease. He is also fluent in English, which allows him to carry out investigations that involve English-speakers with no trouble at all.
Major Relationships With Other Characters
Since Shinichi rarely makes an appearance as himself, he mostly has indirect relationships with the other characters in the series, but since making an appearance as himself is always a big event, his relationships are usually fleshed out a great deal each time he returns.
Mouri Ran - Shinichi's relationship with Ran is one of the major plotlines in the series. They share romantic feelings for each other (even though they won't just admit it), and they carry a strong friendship and a strong bond. Their relationship is often a tale of contradictions, caring for each other when they're apart, yet arguing over the smallest things when they're together. Shinichi is often very curt when dealing with Ran, which strains her patience at times, but since he cares deeply for her, he usually tries to lift her spirits somehow when he notices this.
Agasa Hiroshi - Shinichi has known Professor Agasa since he was a young boy, and he is one of his closest confidants. He is the first person he tells of his true identity after being shrunk by poison, and it was Agasa's advice that he keep it a secret from as many people as possible. Agasa is always the first person Shinichi goes to when he has a problem and needs advice, and he has relied on his help constantly since he became Conan.
Megure Juuzou - Shinichi and Megure have worked with each other on many cases in the past, and Megure values Shinichi's investigative skills highly. Shinichi and his father, Yusaku, are perhaps the only exceptions for Megure's usual mistrust of everyone outside the police force when dealing with a case. Megure is even critical of Kogoro's involvement in cases, yet will accept Shinichi's help earnestly, a sign of his faith in Shinichi's deductive skills.
